Zoe Mulford
Roadside Saints
ACCD-0604
"Roadside Saints" is Zoe's second album on Azalea City Recordings.
Zoe's clear voice and vivid storytelling are enriched by the
arrangements of producer and multi-instrumentalist John Jennings. Also
featured are slide guitar player Pat Wictor, fiddler Rosie Shipley,
percussionist Cheryl Prashker, and bass-player Toby Mulford.
Tracks include "Elegy", the story of a crystal wineglass passed down
through three generations, which won an Outstanding Achievement award
in the Great American Song Contest 2004. "Our Lady of the Highways"
pays tribute to a Maryland landmark off Interstate 95. " The American
Wake" takes the form of a 19th-century Irish emigration song and
features fiddler Rosie Shipley. "Nobody Knocking", a dark tale of
revenge, draws an Appalachian flavor from Zoe's clawhammer banjo.
