An American Wake
ACCD-0706
Tinsmith's third recording, An American Wake, is their strongest
yet...full of the rhythms of Ireland and Appalachia, it is a musical
picture of the trip so many immigrants made from the Old Country to the
New.
Tinsmith uses all the skills of their multi-instrumental members to
perform traditional Irish songs like "Thousands are Sailing" in rollicking
bluegrass style, elegantly embellished by Avril Smith's WAMMIE-winning
instrumentals. They skip just as easily to America and esoteric
Appalachian ballads like "Bolts and Locks" - a driving song powered by
Rowan Corbett's elemental rhythm guitar. In all their songs and tunes
Henry Cross adds his tasteful bass, arranging skills and rich voice, and
Brooke Parkhurst continues a long tradition of beautiful, powerful and
award-winning vocal performances.
