Blue Moon Cowgirls
I Love You Honey
ACCD-0903
I Love You Honey, by the Blue Moon Cowgirls is Karen Collins's fourth Azalea City recording. The recording is a seven-song disc, full of great three-part country harmony and hot acoustic guitar.
The Blue Moon Cowgirls are Karen Collins, Ann Porcella, Lynn Healey, and award-winning instrumentalist Ira Gitlin. The Cowgirls' collective background in classic country, bluegrass, and old-time music brings an authenticity to their music, creating a sound that is distinctly their own.
The CD opens with a lively rendition of "I Love You Honey", a Patsy Cline song with an additional verse penned by Karen. It then moves into a gospel quartet on Stuart Hamblin's moving "Until Then". George Jones and Hank Williams songs each find a spot on the CD, along with the Bluegrass hit "Born To Be With You". Karen's song, "Goodbye Maria", speaks of a current issue of an undocumented worker. The CD closes with the Cowgirls' wish for all : "Happy Trails To You".
"This is country music the way it's supposed to be: Straightforward arrangements and charming harmonies." - Katy Daley - WAMU's Bluegrass Country
"Time sometimes stands still for the Blue Moon Cowgirls, but mostly it swings ...(the group) serves up harmony-rich country that embraces contemporary standards, classic bluegrass and old-timey songs from the 1920s. Think Ronstadt-Harris-Parton Trio with a deeper, richer repertoire." -
