K'Shoshana
K’shoshana ben hachochim
Ken raayati ben habanot
K’tapuach baatse hayaar
Ken dodi ban habanim

As a lily among the thorns, so is my love among the daughters
As an apple tree among the trees of the wood, so is my beloved among the sons.

The words of  K’shoshana are taken from the Song of Songs from the Tora.
I always loved the melody and sentiment of this traditional Hebrew song.
I love to put at least one track on each of my CDs that honors my ancestors.

Water Washed It In
They say the water’s gonna wash away our sins
They say the water’s gonna wash away our sins
They say the water’s gonna wash away
But when the water came that day
Don’t you know that the water washed it in

It washed it in
It washed it in
The water came and washed the sin back in

Had to leave my old mother and father
Had to leave my old mother and father
Had to leave my old mother and father
They couldn’t walk well or make it through the water
They stayed and prayed as the city washed away
They stayed and prayed as the city washed away

Oh it washed away
It washed away
They stayed and prayed as the city washed away

It washed it in
It washed it in
The water came and washed the sin back in

Hey, Lady Liberty what have you got to say ?
Lady Liberty what have you got to say ?
She said, “Give me your tired, your poor, your hungry
as long as they have some relatives with money”.
That is all Lady Liberty had to say

It washed it in
It washed it in
The water came and washed our sin back in
